What are the different editing tools in Photoshop Elements?
Within a filter, you have an option to select one of four categories

Layers
Brush
Today, we will use the Color filter. You will find the Adjustment and Layers filters in future tutorials as well.
There are two ways to work with the brushes in Photoshop Elements.
The first is by using the Brush tool. This way is very similar to the Brush tool in the professional version of Photoshop. The second is using the Hand tool. A few useful options are shown in the Brush Settings to paint in a more painterly fashion.
In this tutorial, we will be using the Brush tool, however, in the future tutorials, you will find out how to use the Hand tool.
There are three ways to apply a filter.
To apply a filter, double-click on a filter. This applies the filter to your image (not the tool).
To apply the filter to the tool, open the Filter Gallery and select the desired filter.
To apply the filter to a new document, open the Filter Gallery and select the desired filter.
Edit a photo
Our first thing to do is open our image. We can do this by clicking on the image. Or we can select it from the file menu at the top of the screen.
Make sure that you have checked the Open as Layers option (this allows you to edit the filters on the image separately).
Adding a new layer
After opening an image, we will add a new layer using the Layer menu. Just click on the New Layer icon. Photoshop Elements will then create a new layer for us.
Use your keyboard’s arrow keys to move the new layer to the top of your image.
To do this, we hold the Ctrl key on our keyboard and press the arrow key of the same direction.
To add a mask to our new layer, we click on the Color mask icon (the same as our Brush tool’s default option).

Recently released security updates for the Java 7 and Java 6 platforms have enabled attackers to remotely exploit a buffer overflow vulnerability in Java Web Start (JWS) within less than a second.
Earlier this year, a new security audit of JWS led by security firm Vulnerability Laboratory, discovered a Java 7 JWS exploit that allowed an attacker to execute arbitrary code within the victim’s JWS browser.
As researchers from Security Explorations pointed out on Monday, attackers could leverage that vulnerability in their proof of concept (PoC) to attack the network of a company that provides a web portal for a small community. A PoC could be easily shared through an infected JWS browser with no warning, allowing an attacker to bypass the most common security measures.
Attackers might use JWS browser to launch an LDAPS attack against corporate network (via a port mapping and not a port redirection), host name or IP spoofing (like in the case of domain name or IP spoofing attacks), execute arbitrary code, gain administrative access, etc., as demonstrated in the video below.
The PoC, first seen in February 2017, exploits a vulnerability in the Handling of the presentation of Packages and Plugins (HPP) used in JWS to handle classes. In a PoC, the exploited browser displays a URL with a JWS URL template. When the victim goes to the link, JWS runs, triggering the vulnerability that then allows attackers to inject and execute arbitrary code using Java’s Class.forName() method.
The vulnerability affects all Java 7 browsers supporting JWS, including the browser used by IBM WebSphere Portal. Vulnerability Lab didn’t try to test Java 6 support for JWS.
The PoC uses a buffer overflow in the way that Java handles OpenJDK Security (JKS) keystores. As a result of that, if the Java VM is running in the background, attackers can trick the user to click on an executable JAR or a WAR file, that could be used to escalate privilege.
Thanks to the simplicity and ease with which the PoC can be shared through USB or infected network drives, similar attacks could be used by the same cybercriminals with little chances of being detected. “The attack is quite simple, only a malicious JAR or JAR archive file is required and that the malicious file is easily accessible,” reads the blog post published by Security Explorations.
