The Document Mode drop-down menu gives you access to various document modes, which determine how the image will be displayed. These include Grayscale, RGB Color, and CMYK Color. See Chapter 9 for more details on these modes.

Figures 9-1 and 9-2 show the same image in different modes. In the RGB Color mode, you can see the different colors. In the Grayscale mode, you can see the grayscale version of the image. Figure 9-2 is a graphical representation of Figure 9-1.

The best way to see how different modes work is to experiment with various options to see the results. You can preview a mode by selecting from the View drop-down menu in the Layers panel.

Use multiple adjustment layers

This section explains how to add layers and perform layer adjustments, including brightness, contrast, color balance, exposure, and others. Layers in Photoshop do more than just organize layers. They can also help create images with multiple adjustments instead of having to change an entire layer just to make a small adjustment.

Adding layers

Creating a new image in Photoshop is easy. Follow these steps:

1. Create a new blank image. See Chapter 1 for instructions on creating a new image. You can also press Enter when prompted after clicking New in the main menu.

If you’ve just opened the program, a new blank image is created automatically. If not, you can click File⇒New to create a new image.

Photoshop’s new image dialog box, shown in Figure 9-3, has many options to choose from. First, you specify the name and location of the new image. You can store this image in the same folder as existing images, keep it in your Pictures folder, or store it in a folder on a hard drive or on a network server. You can move the image later to a different location by clicking Choose, selecting a different location, and then clicking OK.

2. If you need to, you can switch to a new color mode by selecting View⇒Color Mode. This step is optional, but it’s usually the best choice. If you create an image that needs to retain color and then switch to a Grayscale or CMYK Color mode, the colors will be grayed out.

3. Click OK.

4. The new image opens on your monitor or canvas. You can see a preview of the

A beginner’s guide to Photoshop Elements

Think of Photoshop Elements as a modern version of Photoshop. It has the same features, but with a more simplified user interface.

The most basic thing to know about the program is that it provides a collection of tools and features to edit and enhance images. The program is an overall better alternative to other Photoshop image editors that are focused on saving files and can perform basic editing or image enhancement.

You can easily open and edit a photo or video right in Elements. To work with GIFs, you can use the Image Info window, which lets you extract frames. You can also easily crop, rotate, resize, and convert photos.

Depending on your needs, you can use elements to create animations, special effects, or the program can even take you to Photoshop.

Note: Photoshop Elements is currently not available in the Mac App Store. You can purchase it from the Adobe website. It’s $99.99 for the upgrade to the latest version.

Elements also helps with white balance and color correction (see Using Elements for online help). If you don’t like the default interface, you can use it to install the program.

How to install Elements

You can download and install the program for free for your computer running Windows 7, 8, or 10 or Mac OS X 10.9 or newer.

From the web browser of your computer, you need to go to adobe.com and search for Photoshop Elements. If you are using a computer

Rails searching through photos that all belong to a user

I have a User model that has_many :photos
When I click on the photo, the View action that is executed seems to be looking at all of the photos that belong to the user, and that’s not what I want.
I want it to just load the specific photo that I am viewing.
def view
@photo = Photo.find(params[:id])

I’m pretty new to Ruby, so any advice or further direction would be appreciated!

if you just want the photo object for a particular id, then you should be doing
@photo = Photo.find(params[:id])

Rails will do the find for you

How to handle date-time range using CASE in MySQL?

I have 2 columns in my MySQL table which is :
1. create_date
2. effective_date

Both the column contains date-time
For example :
create_date effective_date
2019-10-07 14:50:02 2019-10-09 10:54:38

2019-10-07 10:54:40 2019-10-09 10:56:55

2019-10-09 10:57:06 2019-10-09 10:56:43

2019-10-10 09:59:10 2019-10-09 10:56:34

I need to write a query which should return the rows where create_date = ‘2019-10-07’
In the output the 2nd row must be removed. Since the row has the same create_date as effective_date.

Try this:
SELECT * FROM your_table
WHERE create_date = ‘2019-10-07’;

If you really need and hour as a condition, use my SQL function:
WHERE datetime_field BETWEEN DATE(‘2019-10-07’) AND CURRENT_TIMESTAMP(23:59:59)

Golf is a popular sports activity. For golf players, what is needed is a shot control aid which provides a golf player with improved accuracy in the game. One problem that occurs in golf is that golf balls are often carried forward on a golf swing and can inadvertently be struck with some force by the golf player. These inadvertently struck golf balls have the tendency to roll, spin, and/or bounce off a golf club, and hence, the golf player does not know where a correctly struck golf ball is to be located. Thus, the golf player may have to search for the golf ball. This practice of searching for the golf ball can cause problems as the golfer loses track of his direction. Another problem caused by this situation is that the golf player may accidentally hit the golf ball with the golf club. This is undesirable as the golf club can mar the
