1. One of the keys for understanding ecosystem functions are to understand the role of flow regime on the flow and nutrients transported. Flow regime has a direct relation with the land use, and the amount of nutrients in the water as well. HEC-EFM has a set of user-defined variables in the parameters that connects with various climatic factors and land use. With this application, flow regime can be easily analyzed and displayed.
2. HEC-EFM has a set of User-defined parameters that is influenced by basic parameters such as longitude, latitude, altitude and it’s relation with climatic factors, and hydro-climatic zones. These parameters can be used to create a template for HEC -EFM for local use.
3. HEC-EFM is a field user-friendly program. For example, users can change the land use, land cover classification into in situ or ex-situ, and store their user-defined parameters. It is a web-enabled application that can also calculate models in a local library.

What’s New in the HEC-EFM?

HEC-EFM is designed to help scientists and scholars find data for hydrologic and ecological and modeling, and to design models based on measured and projected data. HEC-EFM is useful for identifying the correlations between ecological dynamics and variations in hydrology and can be used to design monitoring programs.
HEC-EFM is designed to show the model results in a user-friendly window. It supports input data in various text formats, including that of the ArcInfo table-delimited file format. Some of the data variables are numerical data, some are small, in other words, small text files, or and others are photographs. It is easy to enter and export the data of landscape images.
