AutoCAD, sometimes abbreviated as AutoCAD or Autocad, is a popular desktop computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application developed by Autodesk. It is available for Windows, macOS, and iOS operating systems, including on Apple TV, Apple Watch, and iPhone.

History

AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Before AutoCAD was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal.

AutoCAD for Windows

AutoCAD for Windows is available for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 (versions 2.0 through 9.0). AutoCAD software for Windows includes AutoCAD for Windows 2016, AutoCAD LT 2016, AutoCAD Standard, AutoCAD LT Standard, AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, AutoCAD LT Architectural Desktop, AutoCAD LT Advanced, AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD R20, and AutoCAD R20 LT. (These two releases are called Standard and Advanced respectively, but they are compatible with each other.)

AutoCAD for Windows 2016 and AutoCAD LT 2016 include the following additions and improvements over their preceding releases:

AutoCAD is also sold in a three-tier enterprise architecture. This consists of basic versions for a single user or a small team of users, a standard version for small and medium-sized firms, and an Advanced version for larger enterprises. Some features of the Advanced version include 2D feature rendering and support for real-time, interactive motion-based design.

An AutoCAD server can be used to manage files on multiple computers or devices, and to access files from the desktop version of AutoCAD. A server can also be used to run programs, which may be used to perform automated tasks on the drawings or files stored in the CAD database.

Data exchange

The original DXF format is the drawing exchange format supported by AutoCAD. Since AutoCAD R13 (2009), DXF files can also be saved as DWG, and this is AutoCAD’s native file format.

AutoCAD supports two exchange formats: DXF for import/export, and DWG for display.

DXF

DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is the default format used to exchange drawings in AutoCAD. It uses an ASCII character set and contains both drawing commands and other information.

DWG

AutoCAD’s native format is DWG (Drawing (DWG) Format), which supports the exchange of all drawing objects. It uses a different character set than DXF, but the same ASCII codes. It is often used to export drawings to file formats such as PDF.

Both formats support polylines, arcs, splines, text objects, and some drawing objects. Other objects such as blocks, solids, splines, and text are supported by one or the other format.

When drawings are imported, the non-DWG objects are imported as DXF objects (objects created in another format are imported as DXF objects, or AutoCAD converts them to DXF). When a DWG is exported, the non-DXF objects are exported as DWG objects.

The major difference between DXF and DWG is that DWG allows graphics and text to be stored as separate layers, which is not possible in DXF.

Another difference is that DWG objects are stored in the drawing cache, and not the data file. This can result in DWG files that are large because they store more objects than necessary.

In Autodesk Autocad main window, go to Document -> Settings.
In the settings window click on Preferences.
In the preferences window on left-hand side, on the bottom click on the button with “Save”.
In the save window type the password and click OK.

Go to File -> Open.
In the open window click on the left button with “Show In Folder”.
In the next window you will see the word “Keywords”. Click on it.

In patients with bilateral varicocele, the success rate of bilateral and unilateral varicocelectomy is unknown. We hypothesized that patients with bilateral varicocele treated with unilateral varicocelectomy would have more fertility-related complications, with high recurrence of varicocele after surgery. We evaluated, retrospectively, the outcomes of 15 patients with bilateral varicocele who had unilateral varicocelectomy. Clinical data were evaluated before and after surgery. Patients with two or more similar bilateral varicocele were evaluated for recurrence. Testes volumes of patients with left and right varicocele were measured by ultrasound. Data were collected from June 2000 to May 2007. Patients who underwent unilateral varicocelectomy for bilateral varicocele had mean ages of 26 and 20 years. Mean follow-up was 25.3 months. After surgery, six of the 15 patients had testis volumes of 10 to 20 mL smaller than before surgery, one patient had less than 10 mL of testis volume, and eight patients had testis volumes of at least 20 mL larger than before surgery. In eight of the 15 patients, the left varicocele did not recur, and in four patients, the right varicocele recurred. The recurrence rate was higher in patients with bilateral grade II varicoceles (50%) than in patients with bilateral grade III varicoce

Part objects can be combined with a work area now, giving you greater flexibility in your designs.

The Number of sheets setting is now displayed as a tooltip when you hover over the sheet count setting in the Sheet Settings dialog box.
