Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonists (AT1RAs) are effective antihypertensive agents that may have different effects on the cardiovascular system, although their clinical and biochemical effects are related. The divergent cardiovascular benefits of these 2 classes of drugs are a topic of ongoing investigation. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of regimens with an ACE inhibitor or an AT1RA on blood pressure, the clinical target organ response to therapy, and the tissue response to the blockade of the renin-angiotensin system. We compared the combined effects of an ACE inhibitor or AT1RA on blood pressure, clinical and biochemical target organ responses to therapy, and tissue-level responses in patients with essential hypertension. We identified 2 clinical trials where 52 patients were treated with the AT1RA candesartan or were given lisinopril; 50 of these patients were also given hydrochlorothiazide to control their blood pressure. We also identified another trial in which 26 patients were treated with amlodipine and another 26 patients with perindopril for 6 weeks; 14 of these patients had normal glucose tolerance and 16 had impaired glucose tolerance. The doses used were amlodipine 5 mg/d, lisinopril 5 mg/d, candesartan 32 mg/d, and perindopril 8 mg/d. After 6 weeks of therapy, both regimens significantly reduced the mean arterial blood pressure. The combination of an ACE inhibitor with a thiazide is more effective than an AT1RA in lowering blood pressure, improving a 2-hour postglucose glucose after 3 months of treatment, and reducing left ventricular mass index. In contrast, the AT1RA monotherapy is associated with a decrease in plasma renin activity and a significant reduction in the glomerular filtration rate. This study confirms that an AT1RA is more effective in lowering blood pressure than an ACE inhibitor. I have a MainActivity which call an class called History and History call the other Activity which is ussues the code below (i think the key here is the way in History i am calling the onClick method ):
