As the final story event for the Elden Ring: Revenant, the game takes the current protagonist to the Lands Between, where the recent narrative has been going.

Bolstered by the success of the story, the game’s structure is straightforward and, at least in its initial stages, somewhat simple. You’ll take the role of the protagonist in an arcade-style battle against increasingly difficult enemies. The end goal is simply to clear the stage, but you’ll also be collecting new items, growing your skills and your level to put the pieces together for the best possible adventure.

This linearity and standard structure is something that’s generally a huge plus, but I still had trouble getting into it early on. After all, it’s a very different game from the previous Elden Ring installments and story events, which are typically more open-ended in nature.

Besides battle, you’ll spend most of your time exploring, reading and discovering things about the world in various menus. You’ll also fight a variety of side-quests and mini-games, and of course, you’ll also be able to meet people to form parties to take on certain quests.

Overall, the game features 30 chapters, several of which consist of multiple parts. The story is presented through a series of narrative events that are themselves separated into several individual stories.

The narrative is, in general, well-paced. The story pace is high, and just like the gameplay, it doesn’t really go too deep. I ended up finishing it with around 20 hours on the clock, but I could have completed it in 15 hours if I wasn’t so lost in the process. You can add plenty of time to that by just exploring and battling in your spare time, and in most cases, I’d recommend waiting to go on a story quest until you have one or two hours of free time.

You’ll go to multiple towns to find new people, choose a party, equip your characters, and so on. Most NPCs have several dialogue choices for you to make, which make these situations a little more rewarding and interesting.
