Biography

Ross first came to prominence in the Bay Area hip-hop scene with his group ‘Common Knowledge’, a group which initially made an impact as a sign of the emerging Bay Area hip-hop scene in the early-to-mid 2000s. The group consisted of Ross, Z-Ro from the Bay Area, The Real Deal from Hollywood, Makzilla from Oakland, and T-Hawk from Vallejo.

After a hiatus, Mysticism released his first solo album titled Ten Thighs Thru The Sky in 2008. The album was released independently through his own record label titled ‘Project V’. The project featured the contributions of music producer El-P, Oakland emcees The Unseen, Quan and Foreign Beggars, as well as vocalist Dawn Richard. Ten Thighs Thru The Sky went on to receive positive reviews from HipHopDX, ErykahBadu, and DJ of the Week and Alternative Press. HipHopDX gave the album a four-out-of-five rating, noting “The whole record features some of Ross’ finest storytelling.”

In 2009, Ross was featured as a guest on The Unseen’s song “You Should Know Better”, off The Unseen’s eponymous debut studio album. Ross was also featured on Makzilla’s album The Mighty Mak 22 as a guest vocalist and backup rapper.

His second solo album titled Mysticism (also an independent album release) was released in 2010.
