If you want to tweak the mode settings you can click Open WinEdt. Or if you want to tweak the highlighting: Highlighting Tweak (Click Tweak) then click Open WinEdt.
You can add a system-wide shortcut to the Mail Mode and configure it with an icon and a mode-name.
Its a standard.icns file and you can add a mail icon to your menubar to start the mail editor mode.
Only windows will accept an -icon because these icons comes in a format which is only supported by windows.

This version contains a major update. This is a new release without the mail mode, in which I started to use.
I don’t want to change the mail mode for the time I write this mail because I use the mail mode for a long time and I want to keep it this way.
But if someone wants to use the new mail mode feel free to play with it.

I added the mail mode to this version. Thanks to ArvindManjulkar for helping me with this feature.

– Fixed some bugs with OpenWinEdt – The mail mode is now more stable – For the first time it’s possible to export the settings to a file – This file can then be used as a manual reset for WinEdt if you forget the settings – You can remove the menu item from the menubar.

Set up the commands for the edit mode.
It is now possible to set up a new mail with the menu-commands:
* Add Quote Level
* Remove Quote Level
* Paste As Quote (quote:Paste a quote from another source, at another line.  If there is no quote-value in the clipboard, a second line will be inserted.)
* Paste As Quotation (quote:Paste a quote from another source, enclosed with lines and a title.)
* Rewrap (r:* move the selected text to the next paragraph or the beginning of the mail.  *)
You can also use the commands via the keyboard.
Mail Mode Examples:
* To set up the commands for a new mail,  select the lines and click on the command-keys ► Add Quote Level ► Ok.

Setting up the menu for a new mail:
Just select the lines of the mail and click on the menu-button ► Mail ► Add Quote Level ► Ok.
If you select the lines with the mouse and click on the mouse-button, then you can use the shortcut for the meny: c:r :set.
If you want to use the shortcut for the meny, then you have to write in:
* “c:m ”
for the first line,

Note: some mail-computers  like mutt use @ as backslash.

What’s New in the Mail Mode?

Use WinEdt’s Mail Mode when creating or editing a mail, adding “$$” in the first line to mark a new message.
This of course can be disabled with the Options menu, but it is important to have the “Paste To Replace” option enabled.
This is provided for interchanging between mail editor and your favourite mail editor.
Any mail can be pasted to the editor with “Paste To Replace”. So not just for usenet and mail but also for any other filetype in WinEdt.
Mail Menu – Highlighting
It is also possible to insert “$$” in a mail to mark messages.
Mail Menu – Menu Formatting
The menu can be formatted by the user. This is done by setting options in the “Mail Mode” dialog, where you can choose between two different menus.
This is not the most intuitive dialog, so I have also added the possibility to directly set a menu from settings.ini.

When you select the menu from the settings you can see the resulting selections in the change dialog.

The settings can be disabled/enabled by clicking “Enable” / “Disable”, respectively.
