document.xml format) can be altered.
In other words, if you save a document, it won’t always respect the settings of the user’s profile.
Using the Compatibility Fix, you can set your default document type. If the user doesn’t save the document,
Word 2007 will use the settings in this utility, and you can force a different version of document.xml into
the document.
The recommended way of using this tool is to right-click on the document and select “Open with Word 97-2003
Compatibility Fix”.

Once you have downloaded the.zip file, extract it and save the script file at a location on your hard drive

I have these installed, and it works, but I have a problem using it…
When I run the program it says I need to restart, but I have clicked this, but when I do, the computer crashes and I am sent back to the C:/ Windows rescue disk.
I wanted to let everyone know that I have figured out what was going on. The problem was that I had both 32bit and 64bit Office versions, plus the Word 2007 Compatibility Fix installed. Only the Office 2004 32bit version would work and then only on 32bit machines.
